Two new items for this season:
1. There will be an inter-school competition based on finishing places through the season. There will be two categories of school – primary (u9 and u11 age groups) and secondary (u13 and u15 age groups). Runners who have completed 3 races will be scored according to their 3 best finishing places & the top 3 of these for each school will form their team. A dummy run using last year’s results gave us 3 eligible secondary schools & 5 primary.:
1st Calthorpe Park
joint 2nd Court Moor & Ranelagh
1st Elvetham Heath
2nd Hawley Place
4th Church Crookham
Although this does reward the faster runners, it also potentially recognises and rewards runners who might not otherwise make the team but who run regularly. I am happy to link infant & junior schools where there is no overall primary school if you let me know which ones are connected (eg Hook Infants & Junior or Fleet Infants & Velmead Junior).
2. Following the last race of the season Ali Wigg will be sending out certificates to the runners who have competed in all five races. They are a determined bunch and deserve recognition!!! Keep your ideas & feedback coming and if you have any questions, please do let Ali Wigg, the race director know.
